If you’re anything like me, you know how pivotal it is to feel connected to the ocean. But some of us live in a city, inland, or simply live a hectic life that keeps us from getting to the water’s edge. Sometimes you need a little something to help you feel more connected to the sea. That’s where the Sea Soul Oracle Cards have been a savior to me.

Seeking blue spaces in cityscapes and hectic life

Now that I’m in the middle of the city, albeit a small one, I’m often left feeling restless. I can’t quite find that grounded feeling that comes from sitting in front of the waves as they crash ashore. I frequently find myself wondering how to mimic my experiences by the ocean without actually being there.

I’ve tried YouTube videos, guided meditations, and visualizations. Or even a paddle in the bath while I close my eyes and pretend to be floating far out in the open ocean. That might be a stretch, but we have to work with what we’ve got. And sometimes, that’s enough.

But, if I’m honest, I’m a sucker for the everyday tangible reminders that sit right in front of my face. When my Ornitherapy co-author sent me a birthday present, I knew I had struck blue health gold.

Daily ocean dose with Sea Soul Oracle Cards

A Sea Soul Oracle Card is being held up in front of a spider plant. The card has a bright full moon hovering over the ocean. The words beneath it read, "Magic"

So what are we talking here? Oracle as in a crystal ball? Not quite. Think: Setting an intention or practicing gratitude.

The Sea Soul Journeys Oracle Cards, created by Cornwall-based Pippa Best, are a set of stunningly illustrated cards designed to connect people with the magic of the ocean and their intuition. It doesn’t matter where in the world you are. Each word carries a little piece of the ocean in it!

The deck is divided into four themes—Letting Go, Self-Compassion, Moving Forward, and Gratitude and Awe. You can pick what you need when you need it, perhaps choosing a new card every day, week, or month. Personally, I let my intuition guide me and pick a new card when the time feels right. Some of my favorite picks have been: joy, shine, and journey.

One of my favorite cards to-date! I pulled this right before I went on trip back home to America and the timing felt perfect.

Reconnect with the ocean and yourself

One thing I love about these cards is that they create a beautiful opportunity for self-reflection. I once pulled a card titled ‘Space: May your heart and your scope expand.’ It simultaneously made me smile and stopped me in my tracks.

So many questions began whirring through my head as I pondered what I could take away from this card. What should I be making space for in my life? How can I expand my horizons and open my heart? Am I giving myself enough space to grow?

Sometimes the answers don’t reveal themselves right away. Sometimes they’re obvious. The beautiful part is that it’s your experience to have. I’ve pulled the same card twice and taken away different lessons every time. It’s a card deck that never gets old.

So, whether you pull one every day with your morning coffee or simply when the time feels right, these sweet cards are a great way to bring yourself back to the ocean.

Portugal’s Algarve is one of the spectacular coastal locations in the country, with dramatic cliffs and sparkling blue water. Take a mini-trip via some of my favorite film shots.
