We gathered on the tarmac in the September heat, envisioning what was to come after the next five hours. Cyprus was calling, and we were eager to go, although I never quite imagined myself in this position just a few weeks ago.

Surely I would have been walking through the white-walled towns of Southern Spain like I had planned, or exploring the big blue of the Philippines. Yet weeks roll into months, and you can still find me in England. Pivotal or preposterous to some, I feel peace within myself knowing that this was the right decision.

I don’t know where it will take me. I don’t know where I’ll end up. Heck, I still don’t know what job I’ll have, but I do know that I’ll make it work.

My path so far has been continuously changing like the tides. But instead of letting it swish me around, I listen and have the strength to choose where it goes. So many people live without question or confidence. As a result they end up wind-blown, gone wherever it takes them.

Learning to trust my intuition has been daunting and nerve-wracking at times. Should stay in Europe or go home to the US? Should I get on this plane to Cyprus? What comes next?

I have to remind myself that my intuition has not yet led me astray. It’s taken me swimming with the dolphins in Kaikoura, bungee jumping in Queenstown, freediving in Thailand, and now I’m living in England.

I worked hard to get here, but I believe that the positive energy we release is always returned to us. As we boarded the plane to Cyprus, even though it was just for a week-long holiday, I couldn’t have imagined being here a year ago. Or where I’ll be this time next year, for that matter. So I will strive for success, listen to the tides, and keep moving with my heart.

What do you hear?
