I can hear the lullaby of the waves crashing on the beach: lap after lap on the sand, a light sizzling sound of foam following each wave. I don’t know the time and am happy for the seconds to tick away without my knowledge. To be away from the clock and the ever-rolling numbers lets me be entirely here.

There’s a soft breeze that tickles my skin with a reminder of the present moment every time my mind begins to wander. “Come back to me,” it whispers. “The only place you need to be right now is here.”

Here, in the shade, watching the tones of blue layer the sky and the ocean. Feeling thousands of grains of sand shift between my toes. Here, where the air smells like salt and the breeze tastes like it, too. Here, on the other side of the world, exactly where I’m supposed to be.
